Procedure: Cataract Surgery with Symfony® Lens Implant

I had been struggling with the gradual formation of cataracts for years, and was almost blind even with contacts and glasses. I researched which practice to visit and chose Lake Eye. Dr. Holman explained all my lens options and I was intrigued by the Symfony® and its ability to provide vision correction at all distances.

Getting the Symfony® was the best move I ever made! The procedure is so simple it’s ridiculous to think why anyone who is a candidate wouldn’t do it. The results were immediate. You can see colors, and details are so vivid. I have 20/20 vision now, and it’s incredible! It’s a whole new world. I can drive at night, and I can’t wait to get out on the golf course. I haven’t seen the ball after I hit it in years!

Dr. Holman has the best bedside manner of any physician I’ve ever encountered. He is comforting, yet analytical in his approach – his excellence in the field is obvious. Not only would I recommend him for this procedure, but also for a second opinion to anyone considering cataract surgery. His vast knowledge of the subject will make anyone feel confident about their decision to be rid of cataracts.

Procedure: Cataract Surgery on Both Eyes

I’ve gotten regular eye check-ups at Lake Eye for years. During a routine appointment, Dr. Vocci told me I had cataracts and that they would eventually require removal, but that if I wanted to wait another year until I couldn’t stand it anymore, that was okay.

I was hesitant about surgery, so I decided to wait about a year, but my vision got worse. I felt drawn to Dr. Holman, and chose him for my surgery. He was the right choice. He’s a wonderful doctor! I appreciated that he required a pre-op appointment for each eye and that the surgeries were done at separate times for extra safety.

Leading up to the surgery, I admit I was nervous but the nurses assured me I had chosen the right doctor and they really put me at ease. I received the attention I needed and everyone was dedicated to me throughout the process – they treated me like I really mattered to them.

After the surgeries, I noticed an immediate difference in my vision. I’d had five different prescriptions for glasses before and about ten different pairs of glasses – ones for reading, computer, TV, driving, sunglasses, nighttime driving – and now I don’t need glasses at all, which is a godsend!”

I’m so happy I had it done! It has definitely changed my life for the better.

Procedure: Cataract Surgery with Symfony® Lens Implant

My husband started complaining about the mess I was leaving everywhere, but I couldn't see it. I was also dropping things all the time. My depth perception seemed off. I knew I had cataracts, but now it was time to do something about them. I started researching on the “Talk of the Villages” website and read really good things about Dr. Holman and made an appointment.

Dr. Holman was very knowledgeable and thorough. He explained the different lens options, including the Symfony® lens. I did my own research and decided to have the procedure. Dr. Holman and the staff at Lake Eye are amazing. It was the most organized surgery that I've ever had – and I've had my share.

Procedure: Cataract Surgery, Lens Implants

I have worn glasses since I was three years old – thick, heavy, ugly glasses that cost a fortune and left indentations and sores on my nose. When I got cataracts, they only made my vision worse. When Dr. Holman suggested surgery I was afraid to get my hopes up – I couldn’t see well even before my cataracts, so how much improvement could I expect? But Dr. Holman explained everything to me in detail, and my anxiety turned into excitement.

The surgery and recovery were quick and easy and I could see immediately! The lenses Dr. Holman placed in my eyes have changed how I see the world – colors are brighter, lines are crisp and I can finally see details. The improvement it has made to my life is beyond imagination.

Procedure: Cataract Surgery on Both Eyes

I got to a point where I could no longer correct my vision with a new eyeglasses prescription. That's when my general eye doctor, Dr. Vocci, told me it was time for cataract surgery. I was very nervous.

What I loved about Dr. Holman is that he took so much time explaining everything to me and he really calmed my fears. I had my eyes done two weeks apart. In 10 minutes [the first eye] was done and I thought, 'Wow that was easy.'

For the second eye I was fascinated with the surgery and watched the whole thing and asked questions. I wasn't nervous at all. And after the procedures I could see right away.

It was amazing. It totally changed how I felt about my appearance, I had the freedom not to rely on glasses, and I could drive at night again. Now I don't need glasses at all ... not even readers! The recovery was nothing; I used special drops in my eyes for a few weeks and that was it. It was definitely worth it. I would definitely recommend Lake Eye and have done so to several people already!
