Why Have Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery is a fantastic way to improve your sight and manage cosmetic concerns related to aging.

As you grow older, skin and muscles around the eye can stretch and weaken, causing them to sag, droop, protrude, or retract. As a result, it can cause several eyelid problems that could impair your vision or cause general eye discomfort.

Our surgical processes can help correct these problems, bringing you a more youthful appearance, better sight, and comfortable eyes.

Problems Affecting Your Eyelids

Determining which issue you’re experiencing is the first step in finding the right surgical solution for you.

Dermatochalasis refers to excess skin around the upper and lower areas of the eyelid. This condition can make your eyelids appear baggy or tired, and it can progress over time as gravity and aging cause the skin to lose elasticity.

Ptosis occurs when one or both of your eyelids droop over time. In some cases, ptosis may only affect the cosmetic appearance of your eyelid. Still, it could progress over time and cover your pupil, leading to vision problems. Ptosis can also develop in your eyebrow.

Ptosis may also cause vision issues like lazy eye or astigmatism.

Ectropion is a condition that occurs when your lower eyelid begins to protrude outwards. This condition can leave your eye and lower eyelid exposed to the elements, and your tears may have difficulty draining.

As a result, ectropion can cause irritation, light sensitivity, and dryness.

Entropion is an eye condition that occurs when the lower eyelid starts to turn inward. As it progresses, your skin and lower eyelashes can rub against your eye’s surface, causing irritation, redness, and pain.

Festoons develop around your lower eyelid, just above your upper cheeks. Festoons can cause this area of skin to look tired and worn.

Eyelid Surgeries

Our approach to eye care is about so much more than managing your eye health and supporting your vision—it’s about helping you live with confidence.

We design our surgical options to complement both your vision and appearance. With the help of our experienced and Board-certified surgeons, we can get you back to seeing and feeling the way you deserve.

Blepharoplasty is a procedure we may recommend to remove excess skin causing droopiness, sagginess, eye bags, and hanging or retracting lower eyelids.

Under local anesthetic, your surgeon will make an incision along the natural folds of your eyelids. These incisions will help your surgeon remove excess skin and fat, as well as tighten muscles around the area. Blepharoplasty can also be performed on your lower eyelids.

Recovery can take a few days to a few weeks.

We may recommend a direct brow lift procedure if you have issues affecting the skin around your eyebrows, like eyebrow ptosis.

During a direct brow lift procedure, your surgeon will make small incisions in your eyebrow area, allowing them to gently lift them back in their original position. The surgery can help rejuvenate the look of your skin around your eyes, reducing wrinkles and softening your appearance. Direct eyebrow lifts can also treat vision problems related to drooping eyebrows.
